Changes to WANO Governing Board

Mr He Yu has also been elected as a representative of the Paris Centre on the WANO Governing Board. Mr. He joined Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co., Ltd. in 1986, and has around 30 years experience in nuclear power industry starting from trainee, reactor operator, shift supervisor etc. In 2003, under the leadership of Mr. He, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Operations and Management Co., Ltd., the first professional nuclear power operations and management company inChina, was founded.

 Mr. He has been the President of the China Guangdong Nuclear Power Holding Co., Ltd. (CGNPC) since 2005. At present, CGNPC is the world No.1 interms of nuclear power generating capacity under construction. In April, 2010, Mr. He was appointed as the Chairman of the board of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Holding Co., Ltd. (CGNPC). In July, 2010, Mr. He was elected to be President of World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO). His presidency ended in October 2011 during WANO`s 11th BGM.

Mr. Chen Hua has been elected as a representative of the Tokyo Centre on the WANO Governing Board. Mr Chen is the assistant president of China National Nuclear Corporation and the president of CNNC Nuclear Power Company Ltd. He has a major in Reactor Engineering and has senior business administration professional education experience.

Having devoted his career to specialising in the field of nuclear power for more than 20 years, he is sophisticated in the management of nuclear power research, nuclear power plant safety operation and nuclear power construction. Also, he has accumulated a wealth of research, design, project management and technology management experience.

Before serving as the president of CNNC Nuclear Power Company Ltd., he worked as the senior manager on a PHWR (Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor) project in China for eight years. The experience of the project was summarised and submitted to the IAEA for use by the PHWR fleet worldwide, which has contributed to the global performance improvement of PHWR.
