Ken Ellis, WANO Managing Director, was appointed as an Honorary Colonel of the Royal Canadian Air Force on 17 June 2013. Mr Ellis is a member of the 437 (Transport) Squadron, also known as the Huskies.
HCol Ellis succeeds HCol John See who had been the Huskies' goodwill ambassador to the local communities since June 2009.
"I am excited to welcome HCol Ellis back to the RCAF as a member of 437 Squadron," said Lieutenant-Colonel (LCol) Ryan Eyre, Commanding Officer of 437 Squadron. "From early beginnings as an RCAF maintenance engineer, he has provided senior level strategic mentorship to Ontario's energy sector for over 30 years and is highly regarded on the world stage for his professionalism and leadership in nuclear energy. An outstanding and proud Canadian, his combined experience in leading both civilian and military personnel makes him an ideal appointment as our incoming Honorary Colonel."
HCol Ellis said that ever since it was re-established in 1961, the Squadron has consistently delivered on its motto "Omnia Passim" (Anything, Anywhere), a true reflection of the dedication and professionalism of the Huskies.
"It is with great pride and honour to be part 437 Squadron," he said. "I look forward to meeting, working with, and being associated with the Huskies."
