What does the Information Systems Team do?

Information systems form the backbone that supports nuclear safety by providing WANO and its members with timely, ad hoc, and readily accessible information on their performance.

WANO Information systems encompass:

  • A robust and agile IT infrastructure, critical to meeting the evolving needs of our members and Regional Centres. This infrastructure must be highly available, secure, and easily accessible to all WANO Members and Regional Centres, ensuring seamless communication and information exchange.
  • A strong data infrastructure shaped by the immense value of data in driving enhanced performance of Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs), enabling continuous monitoring, and delivering additional member experiences.
  • State of the art, including AI, tools to harness the power of data effectively.

Cybersecurity in WANO’s Information Systems

As part of the Information systems team’s commitment to maintaining a robust IT infrastructure, cybersecurity is a paramount concern. Typical roles include

Head of Infrastructure, Security and Services

Key responsibilities include the implementation and operations of all information technology systems infrastructure. This includes software and hardware in office and data centre locations, network and server services, telephony, service monitoring, user support/help desk, workstation management, servers, storage, and related software.

Business Intelligence Developer

Key responsibilities include maintaining, supporting and developing WANO’s reporting capability, using a combination of Power BI and SSRS across various projects.

Systems Administrator

Key responsibilities include supporting the operations of information Systems infrastructure of WANO London Office and WANO Global, which includes datacentre, network and server, telephony, service monitoring, user support/helpdesk, workstation management, servers, storage, and related software.


Head of Data Analytics and Applications

Key responsibilities include the delivery of robust data solutions for WANO in line with WANO strategy and mission. Data solutions will cover Oversight, Project management, Modern Application Development, Artificial Intelligence, Data virtualisation, BI reporting, and electronic data interchange (EDI).

Senior Cloud and SharePoint Lead

Key responsibilities include leading the holistic work on Azure, Microsoft 365/Office 365 products and workloads. These include, but are not limited to, Azure, Azure AD, SharePoint, Teams, Project, Stream, Exchange, Intune as well as Security and Compliance features.

Application Developer

Key responsibilities include maintaining and supporting existing applications, as well as creating new applications. They will code both the front-end applications and the supporting functions in the back-end database.
