Finding a role and applying
Permanent Positions
Please review the job profile and fully complete our application form and equal opportunities form.
Your initial application is a key part of the recruitment process as it introduces you to us. Therefore, please take time to review the job profile in depth and ensure that you complete the application form in full highlighting your skills and experience against the key responsibilities and competencies of the role, your strengths and motivation and emphasise to us why you are the right candidate for the job. If these are not included we can’t match your application against shortlisting criteria and therefore will not be able to progress your application.
Once you have fully completed your application form and equal opportunities form, please submit these by email before the closing date which is detailed on the relevant job advert.
Secondment Positions
To apply for one of our secondment positions, you must currently work for one of WANO’s member organisations or a regional centre.
Please review the job profile and fully complete our application form and equal opportunities form.
Please note that you must also submit a secondment agreement form, completed and signed by your current organisation to demonstrate their support your application for the position. WANO London Office cannot accept applications without a secondment agreement form.

Our Shortlisting Process
Following the closing date of the position, we will review all applications and shortlist against the criteria detailed in the job profile. Once the shortlisting process has been completed, we will be in contact with you to let you know the outcome of your application and whether you will be invited to an interview or if, unfortunately on that occasion you have not been successful to move forward in the process.
Interview Preparation
Permanent Positions
You will be invited to a panel interview either face to face or via video link. The panel will usually consist of the recruiting director, one other director and a HR representative. As part of the interview process, you may be asked to either complete an assessment before or after the interview or to deliver a presentation during the interview – you will be informed of the presentation topic and requirements in plenty of time prior to the interview to give you enough time to prepare. There is usually no preparation required for the assessments.
Secondment Positions
You will be invited to a panel interview either face to face or via video link. The details of how to connect to the video link will be included with your invitation to interview. If your interview is to take place via video link, we recommend arranging a time prior to the interview to complete a test call with us. During your interview, you may be asked to deliver a presentation and you will be informed of the presentation topic and requirements in plenty of time prior to the interview to give you enough time to prepare.
Interview Preparation
Research the Organisation
Our interviewers will expect you to have a good understanding of what our organisation does and will want to know that you have the ability to research effectively and have the knowledge to add value to the conversation, whilst showing an interest in what we do.
Know the role you are applying for
Read the job profile thoroughly, this will be your most valuable tool during your interview preparation. Having thorough knowledge of the main responsibilities and personal characteristics will help you to understand what the role entails and also understand what we, as an employer are looking for in a candidate.
Our interview questions are based on the competencies that are required for the role, as detailed on the job profile, so please prepare examples of your knowledge and experience that align to these competencies. We’re looking for examples that explain to us your specific role or contribution.
The London Offices’ full competency framework can be found HERE.
Understand the interview format
As previously stated, you will be fully briefed on the interview and assessment process but please do not be afraid to ask questions if there is something that you do not fully understand.
Find out who your interviewers are and research their roles within the organisation. To do this, try looking on our company website, social media channels and LinkedIn.
Prepare questions
Prepare questions to ask at the interview relating to the role and organisation and to also give the interviewers an understanding of your own situational experiences.
Equipment
Prepare and test your equipment and video calling facilities if you are taking part in a video link interview. This will help to ease any stress or issues on the day.
The day before the interview
- Pick your outfit
- If you are coming to the office; ensure you have correct directions to our office and do a trial journey to check your journey time. If you are travelling by public transport, check for any delays or cancellations and leave in plenty of time.
- Read and review your research.
What happens after the interview?
Successful Candidates
Successful candidates will be contacted with the outcome directly by telephone with a follow up email and offer letter and other necessary paperwork. Once the position has been accepted, we will discuss a start date, take up references and discuss visas and right to work information.
We will support you throughout the relocation process.
Unsuccessful Candidates
If you are unfortunately unsuccessful following your interview we will be more than happy to provide detailed feedback to help you understand any areas for improvement and also what you did well! If you would like to be added to our recruitment newsletter, just let us know, even though you may have been unsuccessful on this occasion, we would welcome future applications from you. Signing up to our recruitment newsletter is the best way to stay in touch and hear about our vacancies as soon as they are posted.
Feedback Survey
At WANO we like to get feedback on all aspects of our work so we will send all candidates a feedback survey to let us know how their candidate experience was with us. The survey will also ask if you wish for your details to be kept on file for any future recruitment and if you would like your details to be added to our recruitment newsletter to receive current vacancies directly to your inbox.
Completing the survey is not mandatory but it will help us to continuously improve our recruitment process and candidate experience.
