After successfully appointing the secondee, a meeting is held between WANO London Office and secondee’s parent company to identify the details of the secondment agreement.

The secondee is working alongside the line manager to create a development plan designed to record the development and learning opportunities both planned and completed during the secondment.

Step 7 Repatriation Knowledge Transfer

The seondee repatriates to their parent company and shares the knowledge and experience gained during their time at WANO London Office.

The individual applies for the role that better matches their experience and competencies and could enhance their career development.

Once the contract is finalised and signed from all parties, the onboarding can begin.

The Human Resources team will support the secondee during their relocation back home by providing practical information on the closure of their personal matters.

Step 1: Attraction

The secondee journey starts when the individual starts to learn more about a career in WANO. The individual is informed of the available secondment positions at WANO and how this could add value and support their career development and aspirations.

Step 2: Recruitment and Selection

The individual applies for the role that better matches their experiences and competencies and could enhance their career development. The individual is invited to an interview for the role. Interviews are taking place to learn more about the individual and motivate them.

Step 3: Career Planning

After successfully appointing the secondee, a meeting is held between WANO London Office and secondee’s parent company to identify the details of the secondment agreement. During this initial meeting, the parent company is required to confirm how WANO London Office can support secondee’s career path with the aim of maximising the secondee experience.

Step 4: Onboarding

Once the contract is finalised and signed from all parties, the onboarding can begin. If the secondee is relocating to London, WANO Human Resources and Finance London Office will provide dedicated support with the housing, schooling (if relocating with family), finance and details of the first day in London. Once the secondee has joined the London office, the onboarding process continues with the main focus during the first three months to ensure that the secondee is well settled in London and their role in the London Office.

Step 5: Engagement and Development

The secondee is working alongside the line manager to create a development plan designed to record the development and learning opportunities both planned and completed during the secondment. Development plans are discussed during the monthly catch ups as an opportunity to address strengths and areas of development/progression.

In addition, the Human Resources team conducts by yearly meetings with the parent company to stay connected and engaged during the secondment period by providing details on the secondee’s progress and development opportunities. It is vital that the parent company shares the experience and learnings wished to be developed during the secondment as well as the expectations over the coming months.

A key part of the secondment is to share knowledge and innovate with industry professionals including the Young Generation network with the view to support global industry performance in respect of safe and reliable nuclear operations, through inspiring and nurturing future nuclear industry leaders.

Step 6: End of Secondment

Human Resources team provides the secondee with an end of secondment report which includes reference letters, the monthly catch ups identifying the secondees performance, annual appraisals, development plan and any achievements the secondee made during the secondment to support their future career. The Human Resources team will support the secondee during their relocation back home by providing practical information on the closure of their personal matters.

Step 7: Repatriation / Knowledge Transfer

The secondee repatriates to their parent company and shares the knowledge and experience gained during their time at WANO London Office. The secondee is invited to join the WANO London Office Alumni group created to keep all secondees in contact and share future updates and latest news of the industry and WANO with the aim to contine knowledge transfer.
