EDF Energy hosts Equipment Reliability Industry Working Group in Edinburgh, Scotland
This is a really important industry working group and we need to make strong links to the WANO UNITY document and the five Action for Excellence (AfE) goals, said John Munro, ER I-WG and CNO Mentor.
From 3 to 5 September 2024, EDF Energy hosted the Equipment Reliability Industry Working Group (ER I-WG) at Torness Nuclear Power Plant in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The hybrid meeting was attended by around 70 nuclear professionals from 23 member organisations and 20 countries and was opened with a warm welcome from members of the ER I-WG steering committee (Marina Panzino, NA-SA & James Barker, EDF Energy) and Neil Brown, Torness Engineering Manager.
The meeting included operating experience presentations from EDF Energy, NEK, and EPRI; a number of other presentations from EPZ, WANO London, and INPO; the ER Support Session; and opportunities for the attendees to discuss topics presented in small groups.
John Munro, Director of Nuclear Operations at EDF Energy and ER I-WG CNO Mentor said; “I want to reinforce the importance of Equipment Reliability and its connectivity to secure and underpin nuclear safety. This is a really important industry working group and we need to make strong links to the WANO UNITY document and the Action for Excellence (AfE) goals.”
“My role in this group is a sponsoring role as CNO Mentor. I will not actively drive focus but commit to support this group to influence the industry as a cause for good…. the conversations I have listened to today have demonstrated this so keep it going and take this group to the next level.”
