New Unit Assistance I-WG Meeting Takes Place in Abu Dhabi
Hosted by Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC), the meeting was attended by more than 60 representatives of 29 companies and organisations from 19 countries.
The 19th New Unit Assistance Industry Working Group (NUA I-WG) Meeting was hosted by Emirates Nuclear Energy Company – ENEC Operations in Abu Dhabi on 15 & 16 April 2025.
The meeting was led by Mr. N. Konstantinov, I-WG Chair and Rosenergoatom Deputy Director General, with active participation of the representatives from CNNP, EDF Energy, ENEC, Fortum, Hainan Nuclear Power, Huaneng Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power, Slovenské elektrárne, SNPDP, Rosenergoatom, Rosatom Technical Academy, as well as WANO, INPO and EPRI. Brian St. Louis, Senior Vice President of Barakah Units 3&4 welcomed attendees to Abu Dhabi on behalf of Paul Simmons, ENEC Operations Chief Nuclear Officer and NUA I-WG CNO Mentor.
The meeting agenda included presentations and discussions related to lessons learnt and experience from nuclear units construction and commissioning. In addition, the results of the sub-group work on the development of industry guidelines were presented.
The meeting discussed their plans for the group’s future activities and areas where the industry needs additional guidance, in particular, the commitment of the operating companies to build nuclear units with innovative reactors.
