On Tuesday 26 November Fatiha Bouikannaoui, Functional Lead for Operation, Fire Protection and Emergency Preparedness at WANO Paris Centre was presented with the Women in Nuclear 2024 Award.

Presented at the Fem’Energia 2024 in partnership with EDF, the Institut de France, the Academy of Sciences, Science and Education, have been organizing the Fem’Energia Prize, which promotes the careers of women in the nuclear industry while inspiring future generations.

Fatiha Bouikannaoui said; “I did not expect to receive any award, and I was simply amazed that I had a chance to take part in this event. It was an honour to attend the ceremony as a chance to meet women with an extraordinary background.”

Chosen amongst 300 women, Fatiha continued “When they called my name, I was surprised and proud to receive the award from WIN Fem’Energia (Women in Nuclear). I received the Fem’Energia Coup de Coeur award from Etienne Dutheil, head of the EDF nuclear fleet.”

“My 25 years in the nuclear industry have taught me the desire to improve throughout life to not limit yourself and not put barriers in achieving what you really want. For me, this award means that even women from an unusual background like mine, are also accepted in the nuclear industry. Since my test Peer Review last year, WANO gave me the opportunity to keep going further.”

“I have met along my career people including in WANO who trust and have helped me at every step of the way and I’m very grateful. I hope that this award Win Fem’Energia highlights them at the same time.”
