WANO hosts its 2025 Global Young Generation Forum in Budapest

A wide range of industry issues were discussed at the YG Forum, which was attended by 48 industry professionals.

WANO hosted its Global Young Generation (YG) Forum 2025 in Budapest, Hungary on Thursday 23 October 2025.

The Forum provided an opportunity for members of WANO’s Young Generation community from its Atlanta, Moscow, Paris and Tokyo Regional Centres and London and Shanghai Offices to network, share ideas, and learn together. The event featured several interactive sessions that aligned to WANO’s values of teamwork, integrity, and innovation.

The event, supported by industry leaders, followed on from the Global Chief Nuclear Offices’ (CNO) Forum that took place in Budapest earlier the same week, which was also attended by some YG members. On Tuesday 21 October a Young Generation networking reception was held to bring together senior leaders, and the future of the nuclear industry.

A wide range of industry issues were discussed at the YG Forum, which was attended by 48 industry professionals. They included the following: how the young generation can influence industry sustainability, CEZs’ peer training programme, a Young Generation benchmarking visit, the Next Generation Executive + Artificial Intelligence ‘DANI2 software model and how Artificial Intelligence is being deployed the nuclear industry. The group also discussed key industry reports relating to Significant Operating Event and what could be done from a technical perspective to further enhance operational safety in plants.

For the final session of the Forum, attendees worked together in groups as part of a workshop on Leadership and Meeting Facilitation Skills.
