Ingemar Engkvist appointed Chief Executive Officer of WANO

WANO has appointed Ingemar Engkvist, the current Director of the WANO Paris Centre, as Chief Executive Officer. The appointment was made at the organisation’s governing board meeting in Prague on 20 June 2019. Ingemar will formally replace current WANO CEO, Peter Prozesky, on 1 January 2020. Mr Prozesky began his tenure in January 2016.

Ingemar Engkvist stated: “I am delighted to be appointed as WANO’s new CEO, and am looking forward to working closely with the regional centres, WANO London office staff and the governing board to ensure WANO is well placed to support the industry as effectively as possible in the coming years.

“Peter Prozesky has done a considerable amount of work during his tenure in restructuring the organisation to better address the needs of its members. I take up this position at an important moment in WANO’s history, as we seek new ways to help our members improve their safety and reliability performance and maintain knowledge sharing and exchange of best practises across the global industry.”

Tom Mitchell, Chairman of WANO, said: “I am confident that with his vast experience both within WANO and the wider nuclear industry, Ingemar is an excellent appointment to lead the organisation in continuing to deliver the highest possible level of service to its members. He joins during a significant and exciting phase, as WANO establishes a new office in Shanghai, and will also continue the crucial work of Peter Prozesky to deliver current projects and programmes in line with WANO’s long-term plan, Compass. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Peter all the very best for his retirement and thank him for his dedicated service to WANO and to the wider nuclear industry throughout his career.”
